Draft Bachmann!
by dpolitico on Jul.02, 2009, under Politics
If only this were true. The Democratic Governor’s Association has launched a mock website to promote Bachmann for a run at the Minnesota Governorship in 2010. (Remember, these people elected Jesse Ventura so let’s not throw out the ‘That will never happen’ comment).
DraftBachmann.com offers us reminders on why she’d be a great choice for Governor of Minnesota (if you happen to write for a late night talk show):
From the Huffington Post:
The website urges people to pick a Fourth of July e-card to send out to friends and family. Each of the cards exhibits a prime Bachmann quotation.
Michelle Bachmann on global warming:
“…it’s all voodoo, nonsense, hokum, a hoax.”Michelle Bachmann on common sense job creation:
“Literally, if we took away the minimum wage… we could potentially virtually wipe out unemployment completely because we would be able to offer jobs at whatever level.”Michelle Bachmann on Barack Obama:
“I’m very concerned that [Barack Obama] may have anti-American views.”Michelle Bachmann on science:
“Where do we say that a cell became a blade of grass, which became a starfish, which became a cat, which became a donkey, which became a human being? There’s a real lack of evidence from change from actual species to a different type of species. That’s where it’s difficult to prove.”Michelle Bachmann on setting life goals:
“My number one goal is to not go to jail.”Michelle Bachmann on Congress:
“I wish the American media would take a great look at the views of the people in Congress and find out, are they pro-American or anti-American.”
Maybe she could give Palin a run for her money in 2012 and name Missouri Rep. Cynthia Davis her Vice Presidential candidate. I would love to hear their ideas to turn the country around. Just think, someone worse than Palin…. Hard to believe, huh?
Colbert: Deny Missouri Rep. Food!

From the Huffington Post:
Missouri State Representative Cynthia Davis is one tough cookie. Last week she opposed subsidizing school lunches for low income children during summer months saying, “Hunger can be a positive motivator.” This is excellent news considering 1 in 5 Missouri kids is living in hunger, so that state is due for a productivity boon.
Stephen Colbert tipped his hat to Rep. Davis last night, applauding her decision, but worrying that she never rose above the rank of state representative because she developed the anti-motivating habit of eating. He called on Missourians to help her by denying her food whenever possible. That should give her her edge back.
Colbert went on to wag his finger at Fox News for identifying Mark Sanford as a Democrat in their chyron. He understands that it is a natural response to assume anything bad that happens is the fault of a liberal, but agrees with Peggy Noonan that we should all be blaming one liberal in particular: Bill Clinton.
Daily Show: Glenn Beck Urges Attack on America

Yes, a guest on Glenn Beck actually suggested that the best thing that could happen to get Americans to care about the security of their country is to have Osama Bin Laden detonate a nuclear weapon in the United States. Stewart ripped them for saying this, and Beck for agreeing with it.
Stupid Husbands

I don’t know who gets the biggest trophy for biggest jerk of the year: Governor Mark Sanford of South Carolina or John Edwards.
The latest on Edwards is just gross. Andrew Young, the former aide who took the responsibility for the paternity of Edwards’ mistress’s baby, now says it’s not his baby. It’s John’s. And that’s not even the worst part. Young “accidentally” stumbled upon a sex tape of Edwards and his mistress. Yuck. You can read more HERE.
Then there’s Sanford. We all know now that he’s accused of using South Carolina tax payer money to fly to Argentina to meet with his mistress. Kind of makes you wonder why he didn’t want to take the stimulus money. The whole idea of “stimulus” money must’ve appealed to him on some level. He’s an idiot. His wife is hysterical, though. They aught to take Jon and Kate’s reality show and give it to her.
Speaking of affairs, the very devout, Mormon Governor of Utah, Jon Huntsman, is not having an affair, despite David Gregory’s assertion. (Yes, Gregory apologized, but still owes us a bigger apology for campaigning for the job moderating Meet the Press in the first place.)
And in a totally unrelated comment, I love John Boehner. I don’t agree with him politically on anything, but he doesn’t pull any punches and it’s not hidden in partisan rhetoric. He decided to read parts of the new climate bill on the House floor after it had passed. When asked why by The Hill he said, “Hey, people deserve to know what’s in this pile of shit.”

So it’s been awhile. Not only did I have a new baby, but our firm’s long time client, Dr. George Tiller, was brutally murdered while ushering in his church. It’s made everything seem so petty so I had no desire to write. Now, however, I think it’s time to get back on the horse.
New Baby

So it’s been three weeks since I’ve posted. That’s because I had a baby. I’ll get back to blogging when life gets back to normal. You know, in a week or two. Thanks for checking the site!
Russell Crowe as Robin Hood
by dpolitico on Apr.20, 2009, under Entertainment
Apparently, I only like Russell Crowe when he looks like he did in Gladiator. You can take “Body of Lies” and shove it. Ridley Scott apparently feels the same way. The new Robin Hood movie reunites Crowe with his Gladiator Director. This time you get to see Crowe fight the Norman Invaders in the forest instead of the Germans. The movie is due out in 2010.

Glenn Beck holds his tea party in the only location that makes sense: the Alamo.
Colbert: “Yes, that does really REALLY make sense. So few remember that the Boston Tea Party began when George Washington and his ragtag troop of Union soldiers holed up in the Alamo surrounded by Nazis. Luckily, before Napoleon could bring in his Terminator reinforcements, Hannibal saved the patriot army with his elite corp of elephant men. To this very day we still rally around the cry, ‘Remember the Ewoks!’ For what it’s worth, I would like to throw my support to this grass roots effort by FOX News Corporation. I certainly hope that this occupation of the Alamo goes just as well as the last one.”
